Sandra Gidley MP

We are delighted that Sandra Gidley has agreed to be an ambassador for the Gift of Sight appeal.
Sandra has been MP for Romsey since winning a sensational victory at a by-election in May 2000. She retained her seat in 2001 and 2005 and since 2006 has been Shadow Health spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. Sandra and her husband Bill, an electronics engineer, married in 1979 and have lived in Romsey since 1986. They have a son and daughter, who both attended local schools. Sandra was for many years a voluntary antenatal teacher with the National Childbirth Trust and has been involved with many charitable organisations and she enjoys reading, cookery, the theatre and a tough game of badminton. Sandra’s husband Bill, who has suffered with Macular Degeneration since the age of fourteen, recently undertook a gruelling ride by tandem with a fellow Rotarian to raise funds for Gift of Sight. It has been a pleasure to have the company of Sandra and Bill at the Gift of Sight Ball in 2007 and 2008.
