President: Dame Mary Fagan DCVO
We are delighted that Dame Mary has agreed to be recognised as President of the University of Southampton, Gift of Sight Appeal. Being President of the Appeal complements Dame Mary’s other interests in ophthalmology, particularly with her long-standing involvement with the St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital.
Dame Mary is involved in numerous community projects, medical and charitable bodies, both as Chairman and a member of the Managing Boards. She also maintains a keen interest in all aspects of life in Hampshire, including education, commerce, industry, the armed forces, and voluntary organisations.

We were sorry to learn of the death of Lord Sandberg on the 2 July 2017. His generous support for Gift of Sight in the early days, when Professor Lotery was setting up his research centre, made a tremendous impact on the infrastructure of the vision research laboratories. We extend our sincere condolences to Lady Sandberg and her family.
